CME Exchange to Launch XRP Futures, Boosting Institutional Crypto Adoption
CME Group announced plans to introduce cash-settled XRP futures contracts starting May 19, pending regulatory approval. This development positions XRP alongside major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum in CME’s derivatives offerings, marking a significant step in institutional acceptance.
The futures will be available in two contract sizes—2,500 XRP and 50,000 XRP—both settled against the CME CF XRP-Dollar Reference Rate. This launch is expected to improve market liquidity and provide traders with more flexible exposure options.
Led by Giovanni Vicioso, CME’s Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products, this initiative is anticipated to potentially reshape XRP’s valuation framework and strengthen long-term price outlooks in the crypto market.
